5 Ways to Have Fun at our Family Saskatoon Hotel

Celebrate Canada Day from your Saskatoon hotel.

Celebrate Canada Day from your Saskatoon hotel.

If you’re planning a trip to Saskatchewan this summer and are planning to stay at our family-friendly Saskatoon hotel, then there are a few things you must keep in mind. This Prairie town knows how to celebrate just about every occasion, with plenty of outdoor events to keep you and your kids entertained for days.

There are also plenty of things to do in case there is one of those sudden Prairie storms. In any case, make sure you pack for the weather, and get ready to have a good time with these five suggestions:

Celebrate Canada

Saskatoon is known for its community events. This summer, make sure to take in the city’s Canada Day celebrations in Diefenbaker Park. The free event runs all day long and includes entertainment by multicultural and indigenous performing artists, musical acts, kids activities, and a fireworks display.

Have Fun with Folk From Around the World

Taking place this summer, Aug. 16-18, 2018, the three-day Saskatoon Folk Fest. is one of the biggest multicultural events to hit the city and features international artists, showcasing ethnic food, art, dance, music and more. Get a Folkfest passport and visit more than 22 different ethnic pavilions around the city. And the best thing, children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult!

Get Your Family to the EX

What would summer be without dizzying carnival rides, melting ice cream cones, and big-name musical acts? The Saskatoon EX has all that, and more. This year’s event, Aug. 7-12 at Prairieland Park, promises to be bigger and better than ever.  Catch the parade downtown, and then head over to the midway, which has rides for all ages. The Kidsville area includes a petting zoo, pony rides, games and food, while entertainment ranges from children’s performances, chuckwagon races, to top acts on the SaskTel Grandstand stage. And the best part is, you can travel a straight line south from one of the best hotels in Saskatoon along Louis Riel Trail to the exhibition grounds at Prairieland Park.

Don't Forget to Pack a Bathing Suit

While some may think that Saskatoon has a lack of water, as it is located in the middle of the dry Prairies, you’d be wrong. Saskatoon is home to a number of freshwater lakes with family-friendly beaches, picnic spots, and wooded trails, where you and your family can splash and play all day.

Some of the most popular beaches located near your hotel in Saskatoon include:

  • Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park Beach, Good Spirit Lake
  • Katwepa Point Provincial Park Beach, Katwepa Lake
  • Gardiner Dam Visitor Centre Beach, Danielson Provincial Park, Lake Diefenbaker

If you don’t have time for a day trip to the beach, you should still pack your bathing suit, as you and kids will want to experience one of the best Saskatoon hotels with pools and waterslides.
